Million Dollar Bass Fishing Winners

Our CEO, Matt Johnson sat down with Logan Parks and Tucker Smith, 2 Omnia Fishing ambassadors, to talk with them about their recent tournament win that netted them 1 million dollars and 2 brand new trucks and boats. We recorded the interview that includes details about the event, how they qualified and what strategy they used to win this incredible prize package.

Details about this incredible achievement from the interview:

·       Logan Parks and Tucker Smith are both students at Auburn University and fish on the prestigious Auburn Bass Fishing team. Logan is a Senior and Tucker is a sophomore.

·       The team qualified for the Million Dollar event by fishing an event on Bull Shoals

·       On Bull Shoals, Logan and Tucker used their Garmin graphs to look for bait fish which they found in the creek channels on the Lake.

·       After qualifying, they only had about a half day to practice on Table Rock, the 43,000 surface-acre lake in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.

·       Logan and Tucker didn’t find bait fish in the creek arms of Table Rock like they did on Bull Shoals but they did see birds diving so they moved to the flats where the bait fish showed up on their graphs. A little Panoptics and they could see the bass move in on their baits.

·       The water was relatively clear on both lakes but Table Rock, the tournament lake, was much clearer. They used a very subtle presentation of a Damiki Rig during the entire tournament and successfully caught enough fish on the first 2 days to make the cut on the last day.

·       Tucker and Logan will split a million dollars and each take home a brand-new truck and boat.

Omnia recently announced a partnership with the Auburn College team and they’ve already begun filing fishing reports. You can find a link to Logan’s profile page below:

We won the Bass Pro Shops US Open National Amateur Team Championship and a million dollars on Table Rock Lake using forward facing sonar and a damiki rig style bait. First we graphed and found bait on the main lake using side scan, and or seeing birds diving. Once we found the bait we used the trolling motor and forward facing sonar to scan the area and locate the bass below the baitfish. Maintaining about 40-50' distance from these fish we pitched damiki rigs to them in order to catch the winning weight.

1. Find the places with the most bait. 2. Find the places with the fish in the bait using side scan. 3. Drop the live sonar down and whack them.
