The Delta was a tough bit in the extreme heat of late summer, though I had success in pre-fishing and during the tournament despite the extreme weather. Bass were in deep pockets, deep cover and along current. I had success with 3 different baits: Small Swimbaits, Spinnerbaits and Large worms. I had decent success in pre-fishing with small swimbaits worked along edges and dropping down into deeper channels and pockets. I also found fish by skipping that swimbait up into docks. Large worms, texas rigged, played along current edges of weed lines also was successful when the bite was particularly finicky. I also had great success in pre-fishing with the bassman spinner baits, tossed along hard structure such as walls, docks and laydowns. I was able to get a swim bait bite by tossing up into covered areas that were hard to reach, or playing along weed edges and allowing the bait to fall into deeper pockets or deeper current. Good luck!
