I just finished fishing Lake Onalaska as well as Pool 8 of the Mississippi River north of Goose Island. On Onalaska I fished the sloughs to the north, using primarily ned rigs on edges of grass clumps. Around Goose Island I targeted edges of current near cover and utilized the bassman spinnerbaits, zman zinker wacky rig and zman hula stick ned rigged. I also did some frogging but wasn't very successful there. Most fish are tight to cover, laying along the seams of current on smaller flows. Drop a wacky rigged Zinker or senko along the seam or a 1/15 nedrig and let it drift slowly along the edge of the current, near cover/shade.
