Easiest way to describe Lake Wylie is: Tough! Cover water is key for catching some fish on Lake Wylie; current breaks, skipping docks, or fishing shade lines is a great way to catch some bass throughout the day if you prefer fishing shallow. A shaky head rigged with a Zoom Green Pumpkin trick worm has been my go-to this summer. During the heat of the day use your electronics to locate offshore structure and fish it from different angles with a drop shot or swimbait until you discover what the fish are wanting. The summer topwater bite is happening all day long with the better quality fish coming in the early mornings or afternoons.
