Oct 16- The fishing on Millelacs continues to get better. Water temps were around 53-56 and continue to fall. Despite brutal winds (12-20 mph) the bite was decent. We braved the wind and got on some deeper points (20ft-24ft) with scattered rock and slow rolled outkast tackle golden eyes (1/8-3/16) with 3.3in Keitech fat swing impact. In my opinion the fat’s do not tear near as frequently and with a dab of superglue can stretch the longevity of them. I use fishermen’s glue with a real low viscosity and zero scent. Being it was a Saturday a major factor was staying away from people and trying to fish spots that no one was on. I did notice there being a lot of unproductive water which tells me the fish are starting to school up (congregate) and should be chasing bait soon. Despite them biting the swim baits most of the fish we caught were puking up crawdad, but these fish were around bait balls as well. Long casts, slow retrieves, & killing the swimbait triggered bites. Fall means lots of unproductive water, but when you find them typically they will be mega schools. Good luck guys !
