Just Landed: Mustad and Deps

What's up everybody? We're back with another just landed here at Omnia Fishing. And we've got a couple cool ones for you today. We have Mustad jumping in the high-end coated hook game with Alpha Point. I know we've all been waiting for a long time to see. Mustads answered all the high-end coated hooks that are out there on the market . Mustad, obviously being a massive hook manufacturer that is really, really prevalent in the saltwater market. Really came in super heavy into the bass market and made some pretty killer treble hooks. One of my favorite EWG hooks, the Grip Pin hook. And now they've got a coated hook family coming to the market. I know they have some jigs coming in this family as well, but you've got some finesse-y stuff here. This is their Apex Drop Shot hook. They do have a weedless version of it as well. Then they've got a finess style Grip Pin style hook that would be good for like Tex-opposing your baits on a drop shot. I grabbed a big size in here because it's a little easier to see in the package. These packages are sealed on the back so I didn't want to bust them all open here. You've got a regular worm style hook here that's good for your Carolina rigging techniques and even fluke fishing I like this style hook with. Then this is an interesting one here. If you look at the shape of these extra wide gaps here, this one here is the Assault Heavy and this is just a regular Assault. So like a mid wire and a heavy wire, they're almost a little boxy and square it off. The hook points on these are extremely long. I think you can see a little better on this flipping hook. If you look at the point itself, it is exaggeratedly long compared to a lot of other hook manufacturers. And they are saying that they're getting a lot more hook power out of a more gradual longer taper to the hook point than having just sharpened at the very point there of the tip of the hook.

So impressive stuff here from Alpha Point. In hand, they're very, very impressive. If you are a hook junkie, a terminal junkie and you're picky about your terminal tackle, I think you might have found a new one to try here for sure. And if you're a Mustad fan and you've been waiting for them to kind of get in the fight with that high-end coated hooks that are out there on the market right now, like the Ichikawas, the Owners, and the Gamakatsus, and all those. It's cool to see Mustad jumping that game. There 's some cool people working over there at Mustad and of course they wouldn't forget all the crankbaiters with all their treble hooks, Mustad known for treble hooks, of course in the freshwater market anyway. They do have Alpha Points and treble hooks as well. Would be remiss if we did it if we did just land without something forward-facing sonar talking in there in the world.
