Reported by
Dean Taylor

West Lake Okoboji (IA)

Dean Taylor reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Finesse Jigs technique and Daiwa Tatula SV TW103 Casting Reel on West Lake Okoboji. Additional comments from this report: "8/23/2022 Started out using a Zara spook over weeds with rocks mixed in. Then switched to 5" chompers on 3/8 oz jig head in sparce weeds with rocks. Used a 4" craw tube with a 3/8 oz tungsten weight in heavier weeds. Green pumpkin with orange highlights for the color"

Reported by
Dick Majewski

Lake Winnebago (WI)

Dick Majewski reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Finesse Jigs technique and Daiwa Tatula SV TW103 Casting Reel on Lake Winnebago. Additional comments from this report: "Found a new technique friendly way to skip docks with minimum backlash. It has taken a few years but for me it was more of a equipment change than anything else. I purchased a Lew's Andy Montgomery 6'9" skipping rod which has the right amount of tip and backbone to get a good skipping cast. Then using electrical tape on my spool, I only have around 40 to 50 yards of 20 # test Seaguar Invix line available for the cast. I set the tension knob so the lure ( I have been using only 1/2 oz to get comfortable with this technique) I began practicing the roll cast on the street in front of my home to get the feel for the angle of the cast and practiced in open water before venturing into the shallow docks. It's been an eye opener for me the past few outings and experienced a completely different way to fish docks. After using a spinning rod and getting broken off on pilings this is a way more satisfying way to go."

Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel

$269.99

Reported by
Simi

Green Lake (MN)

Simi reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Finesse Jigs technique and Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel on Green Lake . Additional comments from this report: "The Smallmouth were smashing the Stealth Feider 3/8 jig when paired with the Crush City Bama trailer. Any other color triggered no bites. These fish have been eating crawfish non stop. You can find the largemouth in the weeds pretty consistently and the smallmouth in the sand just off the weed piles. Swimming a jig just off the bottom slowly worked triggered many fish in the 3 to 4 pound range. If you have live scope you can get them on a minnow or dropshot as well. Fish either bite immediately or not at all. Keep covering water. "

Additional comments from this report: "Offshore reef and shoals producing nice small mouth bite for numbers. Open water sniper in hybrid goby provided best of both worlds with hair jig and traditional finesse jig features. Don’t be scared of the small thin wire hook, these things can take a beating! "

Reported by
Connor Lacy

Kentucky Lake (TN)

Additional comments from this report: "Jigs and bluff walls, keep it simple slow. Finesse jig and super chunk jr. Lots of bites and lots of fish. Fish are in wintering areas along bluff and offshore channel swings. Great time catching all three species"

Bmorris07

Lake Oconee (GA)

Bmorris07 reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Finesse Jigs technique and Shimano Curado MGL 150 Casting Reel on Lake Oconee. Additional comments from this report: "The water north of the 44 bridge is still really muddy, so I stayed south of the bridge focusing on docs that had deeper water near by. I haven't gotten bit on any moving bait the last two outings, but the jig bite is still really good on the docks. "
