Brandon Garrett
Lake Pepin (MN, WI)
Brandon Garrett reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Hard Topwater (Prop) technique and Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel on Lake Pepin. Additional comments from this report: "This week there were quality bass, both laregemouth and smallmouth are in shallow water near rocks and riprap. Topwater search baits like Whopper-Ploppers or the Berkley Choppo 120 can work all day, and were all we had to throw to put together a limit of 3, and 4lb fish. Cast right up to the rocks, retreive at the right speed for that pop pop sound, and repeat. A few bass could also be found at the downriver end of Pepin hitting topwater in the sloughs, where there were wood and current eddies. "

The Gator Guy From MNKFA reported catching Northern Pike using the Hard Topwater (Prop) technique and Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel on Rush Lake. Additional comments from this report: "The pike were dialed in on the Whopper Plopper 90 Bone color. I had 2 hours of PIKE MAYHEM! Incredible strikes and fish jumping out of the water at the lure. After 2 hours of being pounded by pike, the lure was missing 5 out 6 hooks. I switched up to a perch color whopper plopper and the action died off. "
