Reported by
Brandon Garrett

Lake Pepin (MN, WI)

Brandon Garrett reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Hard Topwater (Prop) technique and Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel on Lake Pepin. Additional comments from this report: "This week there were quality bass, both laregemouth and smallmouth are in shallow water near rocks and riprap. Topwater search baits like Whopper-Ploppers or the Berkley Choppo 120 can work all day, and were all we had to throw to put together a limit of 3, and 4lb fish. Cast right up to the rocks, retreive at the right speed for that pop pop sound, and repeat. A few bass could also be found at the downriver end of Pepin hitting topwater in the sloughs, where there were wood and current eddies. "

Reported by
OutdoorWoman

Banner Marsh (IL)

OutdoorWoman reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Hard Topwater (Prop) technique and Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel on Banner Marsh. Additional comments from this report: "The topwater bite has been on FIRE!!!!! It's been vital to be on the water pre-dawn, and will last up until around 9-10am, depending on cloud cover. They are sitting at the edge of submerged weeds to deeper pockets of water. There has been a decent breeze/wind as well. When they short strike the choppo/buzz bait, Ill skip a swimbait or fluke and 4/5 times they will nail it. "
