Shimano Vanford Spinning Reel

$249.99 – $259.99

Reported by
River Rat Fishing

Bass Lake (91) (IN)

River Rat Fishing reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Shimano Vanford Spinning Reel on Bass Lake (91). Additional comments from this report: "Water temp was 40 degrees today and the air temp was 38 and cold. I caught a few early on the lipless but the bite just stopped. I tied on the spybait and fished it super slow about a foot off the bottom on 10 feet of water and put a nice 3 pounder in the boat and 4 between a half and 1 pound. I also caught a decent smallmouth."

Reported by
Christian Highfield

Lake Erie

Christian Highfield reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Shimano Vanford Spinning Reel on Lake Erie. Additional comments from this report: "Fish are moving back out. Catching them in open water flats or mid range rock piles/structure in open water. "

Reported by
Kent Mittelstaedt

St. Lawrence River (NY)

Kent Mittelstaedt reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Shimano Vanford Spinning Reel on St. Lawrence River. Additional comments from this report: "Fished the bassmaster open on SLR. Caught good numbers and decent size up shallow on calm sunny days. Spybait triggered the best bites. I targeted isolated boulders that I could see and made a long cast to get bites. "

Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel

$199.99

Reported by
Sam Rardin Fishing

Mille Lacs Lake (MN)

Sam Rardin Fishing reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel on Mille Lacs Lake. Additional comments from this report: "The smallmouth are easily 80% done around the lake. Many fish are post spawn and are fairly tough to catch. I’ve been throwing Feider flys, spy baits, and perfect Ned’s. I have been finding most of my fish in 8-12ft around larger boulders or good gravel to larger Boulder transitions, some boulders had fish stacked on them and some didn’t. I still haven’t seen a giant mayfly hatch yet this year but some of the boulders are starting to get green algae of some kind growing on them making it a little tougher to fish bottom contact baits. I do believe the fish tend to stay away from boulders that have that growing in abundance on them. Soon will be in a full summer swing!"

Reported by
Paddy J

Sturgeon Bay (WI)

Paddy J reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Spybaits technique and Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel on Sturgeon Bay. Additional comments from this report: "Loooong casts with 8# braid and 6# flouro was the ticket. I liked using a super tiny VMC crankbait snap to swap through colors quickly but black was definitely the winner. "

Shimano Curado MGL 70K Casting Reel

$249.99

Reported by
Dupree

Lake Michigan (IL, IN, MI, WI)

It’s about that time of year where the smallies are moved up pretty shallow on Lake MI. Crushed them on spybaits over large boulder and structure in water between 8-15 feet! If you can’t get them with that, throw on your favorite dropshot combo and work around the structure with that!
