Bob Downey
Chickamauga Lake (TN)
Bob Downey reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Texas Rigs (Pitch/Flip) technique and St. Croix Victory Casting Rods on Chickamauga Lake. Additional comments from this report: "I had a three prong approach to the 2022 Bassmaster Elite Series tournament in the first half of April. Water was still low and slowly rising through the week so I fished any remaining cover on the bank back in protected pockets - shale rock, docks and laydowns. I threw a chatterbait on the shale rock first thing each morning - it produced a few of my bigger bites each day. After that I started running isolated docks in 0-3ft mid-morning on shallow flats that seemed to be ignored by other anglers. The rest of the day I flipped laydowns with a jig or texas rig in 0-3ft back in protected spawning pockets. My fish were pretty dirt shallow despite the cooler temps we had during the event. "

Additional comments from this report: "The largies wouldn’t hit any moving baits today, switch to a jig but only got hit lightly a couple times. Switched to a Texas rig vile bug(got through the grass a lot better too!) started getting good bites and located the fish. Water was dirty so a junebug/black blue was the best color option, just fished slow picked apart the vegetation! "

Pierce Knarr reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Texas Rigs (Pitch/Flip) technique and St. Croix Victory Casting Rods on Pool 7 Lake Onalaska. Additional comments from this report: "Fish were tight to lay downs and old grass, fishing a Texas rig was the best way to effectively get fish out of the cover. Having a rod with a light tip and a lot of backbone was crucial, the 7’3 H Victory is perfect for this. Paired with 18lb sunline this was the perfect light flipping setup."
