My name is Jason Gasper. I currently belong to the Southern Colorado Bassmasters fishing club, which is based in Pueblo, Colorado. I am a military veteran (2 years active Army, 3 years Air Force Reserve). I am an avid bass angler and get on the water every chance I get. I currently fish Colorado TBF qualifiers and National Semi-Final events, Colorado BASS Nation qualifiers, Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL), and local club tournaments. I have been fishing freshwater species since I was 5 years old and started fishing competitively in 2016 with the Pikes Peak Bassmasters, based in Colorado Springs, CO. In my rookie season, I was Rookie of the Year and finished in the Pikes Peak Bassmasters Top 10. At the time, the Pikes Peak Bassmasters did not run a Pro-Am format, which means I was competing against both boaters and co-anglers in the same field. In October 2019, I purchased a 2018 Nitro Z20 and have been fishing as a boater / pro since. The 2020 season has been my first full season as a boater. In my first season as a boater, I won the club AOY race. In 2019, my former NBAA partner and I won the Colorado NBAA Team of the Year award, finishing 1st in the state in points. We fished in the 2020 NBAA National Championship at Truman Lake, MO, where we finished 26th out of 62 teams. We finished higher than any other Colorado team. In 2020, my new NBAA partner and I finished 2nd in the state and competed in the NBAA National Championship. We finished in 38th place out of 101 boats. I love to fish and talk fishing. I’m on the water with my family every chance I get. I feel the best way to improve on tournament day is to gain experience through spending time on the water.
