I took my dad fishing on Belle Lake for walleye. The photo was a bit of a joke because it was the smallest fish we caught. The walleyes were hanging around weed edges in 8-14’. We were pitching 1/4 oz tungsten jigs with half crawlers and leeches. We picked up fish here and there, needing to stay on the move.

Fish were cruising the weed edge on the wind-blown side of the lake. There was gravel and sand on the outside of the weed bed. The fish came through in waves. A slow retrieve got bit, just working through the tops of the weeds and then out over the edge. Keep the rod tip high until you’re out of the weeds and don’t be afraid to rip that crankbait out of any weeds you get hung up on.
