Another good day on Big Marine. I caught 19 bass and my buddy got 19 also. We found them in 3 to 6 FOW using green pumpkin Senkos. The biggest was 19 inches. All of the big fish were post spawn.

Outing is for May 26th, water temps in the mid to upper 60s. Weather was mostly clear, medium winds. First time on this lake so did some exploring and sampling lots of spots. Best luck came on shallow flats and spawning bays. Fish seemed to like my Sprinker Frog the most. I don't think they were spawning yet, didn't see any locked on nests. Good first day on a lake. Quite a few small to medium fish, but no bigguns. Loved my new Victory rod and Daiwa 150 Coastal Reel as well.

It was a great Fishing Opener on Big Marine Lake today. I got 22 bass with the biggest being a 15 1/2, a 15 and three 14s. I found the fish among the bluegills in 4 to 8 feet of water. Every bass was caught on a 5 inch Green Pumpkin wacky rigged original Senko.

Lighter finesse tackle was producing largemouth bass bites on Big Marine. Spinning rod rigged up with 15# braid to 8#floro leader tied to a ned jig hooked with Zman TRD plastic. Cast up closer to the docks and shoreline and wait. Slow roll it back to the boat to get a swim effect with some pauses to mimic a foraging bait fish.

Punching weed beds 8’-14’ , natural colors work best on this lake. Weeds are the best place to find bass on this lake and swim jigs are your friend, especially if you want to cover water faster than rocking a wacky rig.
