I got up at 4:15 for a 2 hour 5 minute road trip south to the Finger Lakes searching for Lake Trout & maybe some smallmouth. Things worked out and we caught both. Our best presentation was casting a Keitech 3.3 Fat Swing Impact on a 1/4 oz Jighead into 20-40 foot. Let it sink to the bottom then begin a slow steady retrieve feeling the jig tap the bottom throughout the retrieve. If you loose that periodic bottom contact, stop reeling let it touch bottom and begin the retrieve again. Bites were light but that near or on the bottom presentation produced the most strikes for us today.
