Lake Details

Summary

What you need to know about fishing Chippewa Flowage

The Chippewa Flowage is a man-made lake in northeastern Wisconsin with abundant stocks of walleye, muskie and largemouth bass. The lake covers 14,593 acres worth of space and has a max depth of 92 feet making it a great destination for walleye that enjoy the cool, deep waters. In order to find and catch walleye, most experts recommended finding deep lake rock structures and humps surrounded by baitfish. Work these structures with jigs, Lindy rigs and crankbaits. Due to the lakes slightly stained water, lighter color lures or lures that appeal to another of the fish’s senses such as sound or vibration are going to make your fishing trip more successful. Along with walleye, muskie have a strong presence in the lake. Bucktails and crankbaits are going to be key to catching these fish. Look for shallow logs, wood structure or weed lines on your side-scan sonar. Largemouth bass are very common in this lake. Search for lily pads or shallow weedlines and use topwater frogs in the summer, shallow crankbaits and buzz baits in the spring and fall and small spinnerbaits year round.
