Though it was a hot day on the water the bass could be found in submerged grass in 8-10' of water. I had a Zman jack hammer (Brett's gill) with a 3' Zman minnowz trailer (in green pumpkin). I used to lose nearly half of the bass that hit my chatter bait until I changed rods. The Saint Croix mojo bass in 7' med hvy moderate action, gives me the back bone for a good hook set without pulling it out of their mouth plus the added flexibility of the moderate action gives me more flexibility to keep the line tight on the fish until I get it in the kayak. I paired a Abu Garica Revo SX in 7.5:1 gearing to give me the ability to keep up with a fish coming towards me.

Mid-day bite was tough. We started fishing points and docks but most of our bites came from the poppin frog near lily pads. Pop it a few times and let it sit for a few seconds then repeat.
