It was a cool morning and I was casting the Flux Gill into an area with submerged vegetation. The color I was using was the Junebug which Omnia does not have in stock atm. I had that rigged weedless on a Mepps #3 Aglia inline spinner bait. I let hit the bottom and just sit for a bit. I twitched it just a bit in case I had a fish come over and see it on the fall. I gave it a quick pop and then started to crank it up out of the grass and that is when he hit! I thought it was a catfish as it stayed low. It wallowed up on the surface and then I knew it was a big bass. Such a great fight on my MAGS Custom 6’8 spinning rod. I got the fish in and realized it was a double digit hog! The Berkley Flux Gill was the key! If you’ve never tried it, give it a shot! The line I used was 12lb Sunline SX1 braid to a 12lb Sunline FC leader. The reel was a Shimano Miravel 3000

I fished the lake with a buddy on 05/12/22. The lake had about 6 to 8 inches of visibility and was around 74 degrees in the morning, but warming up to about 83 degrees in the evening by the time we left. In the morning, there was a shad spawn going on and fish were easy to catch with a frog and a chatterbait along the shoreline reeds and grass, specifically targeting pockets or holes in the grass along the bank or points in the reed lines. As the sun got up, flipping the reeds with a texas rigged creature bait continued to produce quality bites. Overall, we had a best 5 bag of around 17 pounds and caught probably 30 or more fish total on the day. I have included a photo of our best 5 below, Thank you all for reading and tight lines!
