The water temperature was hovering around 50 up shallow, but the fish had not moved up yet. Only a single here or there and most of the fish remained off the breaks into deeper water outside flats and on the main lake. Slow crawl near bottom with the occasional twitch to trigger them.

Largemouth were holding very tight to newly green reeds in maybe a foot of stained water. My derby partner was also catching them in the same areas with a Texas rigged creature bait of a similar size and color. It felt like they were hitting it on the fall. You would lift up and there would be weight and your line would swim away.
