Bluegill
Out kayaking and landed a few nice pikes! The pikes are hiding in submerged vegetations ambushing preys such as bluegills and other bait fish. Lots of small hills and minnows were seen cruising around within the submerged vegetations. This is the best time to target pike and bass as the vegetations are not fully grown yet. The shore lines were holding large mouth and very fat sunnies still full of eggs. With the hot weather and rain in forecast, they fish should be making their beds and spawning soon. Used hair jigs (Firetiger pattern was key) and chatter style baits. Hair jigs were the ticket! Did lose a big hit on a chatter style bait. Did not see what it was, but it was heavy. Good luck out there!
