The bite is on for all species. Due to 45 mph wind gusts we were unable to leave the bay but we found fish. The smallmouth are still out deep (probably on main lake rock piles), but the largemouth were plentiful. 7-10 feet deep you could see them swimming in and out of the grass on Livescope. Big white bass had moved up shallower on the flats (getting ready to spawn), and the pike were scattered throughout. The big largemouth are present if you can find them. I threw a variety of jerkbaits but the Rapala shadow rap deep worked the best. It has a slightly faster fall rate that was triggering reaction bites the second you’d pause the bait.

I had success catching smallmouth as well as my personal best Northern Pike on Enemy Swim this past week. The water clarity is quite good and was having some success using small swimbaits. Fish were cruising along weed-line edges, and edges of reed clusters, in the middle to bottom of the water column. You can get good success with a small swimbait like a small spark shad or a zman minnowz on a small jig head.
