Water temp was just under 80 when we hit the water and then we got slammed with some hard rain, not much wind. Cooled the water down a bit at the surface and made for an interesting bite. All but one of our keepers were on wacky rigs. The biggest was on a rat-l-trap at the end of the night. Caught a couple on frogs, swim baits and a BFS popper. I bent out a hook on a big one (damaged the hook earlier extracting it from a dog fish and should have replaced it). We ended up with just under 8lbs w/ 4 fish. 1st-3rd were all right under 9lbs.

A little bit of wind when we first got out, just enough to put a chop on the surface. Caught a fish on a wacky on nearly the first cast and another s short while later on a shower blows but then it was dinks and pretty dead the rest of the evening. Once the wind calmed down a top water bite turned on and caught a good number of 13" bass on a Shimano popper, and lost several better ones as well. They just seemed to be sucking the tail down and not getting hooked well. Switched to a popmax and they started horking it down pretty well at that point and made it a lot easier to pull them in. We managed 4th place with 3 fish for 4.41lbs. Big bass was around 3.5lbs, and winning weights were scattered between 4.5 and 10lbs.
