I went out for more Folsom Lake punishment last Saturday. :) I was committed to using Jerk Baits trying to expand my knowledge of when to use certain types of baits. But the bass just didn't respond. Just as I was planning to call it a day, I boated up a stream outlet about 50 yards and found some grass lines. I tied on Rapala X-Rap in the yellow perch pattern, and on my 4th cast, got blown up by a 2lb 9oz spottie. Man, she put up a great fight. And turned what could have been a bad outing into a decent outcome. I caught one more, not as large, before the area went silent. Wish I would have taken a better picture! But I was in too much of a hurry to get that X-Rap back out there!

Anyone familiar with Folsom Lake, knows it can be tough this time of year. The rapidly changing water levels and the increase in wake boarder activity just seems to mess with the bass. But I went out for just a couple hours on Monday, Sept 5 and got into a nice 1.5 pounder using the Yamamoto 5" Kut Tail on a Texas rig. That bait has a crazy good action. Along with the one I landed, I enticed a couple more to come out of their holes showing some serious interest. Looking forward to getting out to some better areas and using this technique.
