Started the morning fishing by the spillway. The bass were up shallow. Saw a big girl swimming by the rocks near the spillway and got her to bite on the wacky worm. Was able to catch another in the new growth of pads and submerged vegetation. The weather got very windy and the bite got tough. Moved to the NW side of the lake and caught a nice one by dragging a jig across a wind blown, rocky point coming off Devil's Island. I wasn't able to fish long because of the wind but the quality of bass was great.

Was fishing up shallow with few to no bites while working docks from the front to the back. The fish almost ate it instantly as I started to reel. Water Temps varied from mid-60s to high 60s. The fish ended up weighing in at just under three pounds and could tell it either still had eggs or had been feeding up and getting ready to spawn.

The bass were hanging tight to certain clumps of weeds and the bait placement was key as they were chasing bluegills. The clients caught some of the largest bass of their lives and had a blast.

I took 1st out of 37 in a local kayak tournament fishing a docks, wood lay downs, and shallow grass patches after a cold front. Ended catching around 15 bass with top 5 going 89” in length. Most fish were post spawn with still a few late spawners found up against shore on concrete walls.

The fishing was slower then expected, so for the clients to catch fish we used senkos and fished really slow. They managed to boat some nice largemouth bass.

Largemouth are the most abundant species on this lake and come in big sizes because of the 18" size limit. I had a recent guide trip and we managed to catch several big largemouth bass 18-20" using swim jigs, chatterbates and spinnerbaits. Also dark colored flipping jigs.

Fish were biting and aggressive despite the recent cold front. If you could find a school it wasn’t uncommon to get a bite every cast for several casts in a row. Key areas were vegetation and pinch points in 3-4’ of water.
