Summary

What you need to know about fishing Greenwood Reservoir

Greenwood Reservoir is a 1,073-acre impoundment located 10 miles southwest of Ishpeming in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It was originally built by damming up the Escanaba River to support the nearby mines in the region. The main access ramp is located on Greenwood Reservoir Rd and has two hard bottom boat lanes with 17 parking spaces. Structure in the lake is virtually unlimited with many islands, coves, stumps, and rocks that fish will use throughout the year. Anglers primarily target northern pike, walleye, crappie and bass. Pike have often been located around stumps on the main lake throwing various colors of spinnerbaits. Numbers of walleye can be caught in deeper water (12-20 ft). Try to locate steep drop offs where you can parallel the bank with crankbaits. When they are relating to specific spots, a simple leech on a jig head works well. Crappie and Bluegill will often be in protected coves around islands and channels. Popular techniques include minnows and small plastic grubs.
