Went out of Bucksaw Marina and fished that area of the lake. Was flipping a Motion Fishing Co 3/8oz flipping jig to shallow stumps and trees. Had a shot at a really good bag of fish but the storm and big wind made it hard to feel bites. Square bills were also working well from the bank to about 4ft deep. Seems like those river bass have started to transition into their fall pattern. Lots of bait in the creeks and active fish if you found the right creek. They were on cover that was very obvious the best cover on the bank you were fishing. Hope this helps you if you venture over tot Truman lake soon. Lake is about 2.5 ft low so a lot to most if the trees are showing, now is a great time to learn the lake.

Fished a kayak tournament on Truman this past weekend. Caught good numbers of fish slow rolling a lipless along bluff walls. Fish seemed to be staged on bluffs located within the first 1/3 of pockets that were filled with baitfish. The shad appear to be starting their push back in the pockets and the bass are following. The bigger bites came bouncing the bait off of isolated submerged laydowns and standing timber in 8-10 FOW. Slow rolling was key in low light and overcast conditions to trigger bites. Schools fish would often swipe at, or bump, the bait. Making multiple casts back to that same area would produce bites as well. Water temps were still in the upper 70s.

Fish where keying on wind blown steeper banks with shad present. Lay downs on the steeper banks were key
