Took the kayak out from 6 AM to 1030. Had never been on this lake. Was able to get on a pretty good pattern right away, throwing a swim jig around lay down wood . Most of those fish were pretty average size between one and 2 1/2 pounds. In the last hour I found some good grass in close proximity to deep water. The grass on this lake only grows out to about 6 foot. The wind was pretty heavy so I threw a bladed jig parallel to the weed edge in about 6 foot of water, and was able to catch several quality fish. The biggest being 4.77 pounds. there is also an algae bloom going on, so it is pretty green. dark colors would be the best option, although I was throwing a white chatterbait.

This is an interesting body of water. I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived surface temps were still in the mid sixties and there appeared to be an algae bloom that left the water with a "green paint" appearance. When scanning there is ton of off shore rock but I could only catch a few dinks using a Carolina rig. Moved shallow and caught a few more running swim jigs through and pitching to any emergent vegetation. Things started to really come together when we pitched jigs into all the shoreline wood, when you catch a fish off a lay down here make sure you stop and work that particular piece of cover very well as we found some trees holding as many as four fish.

Lake was pretty well choked out with curly leaf pondweed. Walked the pad crashed over some open holes in the weeds to catch some pretty decent bass.
