Fish were pushing shallow around submerged grass patches and bottom transitions. Covering water was key and fish were relocated across the flats. Wind blown areas seemed to be best, and focusing on the outer edge of spawning areas is where the biggest fish were located. During overcast conditions, switching to the Sneaky Underspin was more productive than the ball head. Color also varied each day, depending on water clarity and sun/overcast.

6/23/2022. Conditions were sunny (bluebird day) with winds out of the NNW at 7-10 mph, high 70s F air temp, 67-68 F water temp. This was my first time at Hubbard. Interesting lake to figure out. Found some smallies early in about 8-15 ft of water on a rocky point and hammered them with a Dark Sleeper and a drop shot. After a couple hours of good action, poof, they were gone. I tried a bunch more spots deeper and shallower. Had one follow a hair jig up shallow on a flat, but that was about it. I guess that's smallie fishing for you. Still had a blast, especially early. The Xzone Finesse Slammer was great, as was the CJ Smasher. The Ichikawa drop shot hooks are by far the best I've ever used. Those suckers stay pinned. It was even borderline challenging to get the plastics off the hooks. Insanely good. Cheers!
