I had an excellent day pre-fishing for our upcoming tournament next weekend. The majority of the fish were caught around emerging grass and laydowns. I used a weighted Senko or a custom chatterbait, running it parallel to the laydowns or working it through the emerging grass. The water temperature ranged from 72-76°F throughout the day. Lake level was a little high, but the clarity was good.

During my kayak tournament, I found the bass relating to more individual stumps and lay downs tucked to the bank. Flipping with a 1/4 oz weight and a 4/0 owner hook worked very well for me. Ended up 3rd out of 20 kayak competitors.
