What you need to know about fishing Lake Griffin

Lake Griffin is located just north of Leesburg and is the last lake in the Harris Chain of Lakes. This lake was famous for Largemouth Bass, however in roughly 1990 the lake began to go downhill due to herbicide runoff. Lake Griffin inherited a large quantity of bass from small surrounding bodies of water that got filled in. This influx of bass has helped to restore this fishery but it is not at the level it once was. In addition to bass being brought in, there is a growing population of hydrilla and eelgrass.
