Recently fished a tournament on this lake and it was tough. I caught a lot of fish that were not in the slot limit before deciding to fish the docks around the lake. I started noticing that the docks that were longer and narrower were holding larger fish not giants but the fish were the size I needed to fill my limit. I was able to cull a couple real small fish at the end of the day fishing a ledge with a Tokyo rig but those bites were hard to come by.

Dropped in the lake after the heaviest rains came through. Fished through a small drizzle for the evening. Key to this lake, bluegill! They are everywhere, and the bass love them. Everything I threw today was imitating gills in some way. The terminator walking frog is a must have for any frog angler. And the bluegill color is my most successful. Threw the frog over the heavier cover and worked the edges with the choppo and a buzzbait. Flipped a few reeds while moving around also. Independence can be a tough lake to find quality bites. Lots of boat traffic but if you can get out in the right conditions and areas you will enjoy this lake!
