Shad
Hybrid stripped bass and a few remaining stipers can be targeted along main lake points as they seem to move up and down continuously chasing bait. Keep an eye on your electronics and if you find bait scan the entire point to find smaller schools and throw a crankbait (strike king 5xd) shad pattern. If they seem inactive then work a jigging spoon or a flutter spoon to trigger the reaction strike. Usually the heavier jigging spoon works better to trigger them. Also pinch points such as smaller bridges have been producing smaller hybrids that they bite easier and can be fun with catching numbers.

Rip Rap
The lower end of Lake Norman is definitely in the fall pattern, bass are migrating to warmer water along the rip rap banks & the nuclear power stations warm water discharge canals. Fish the lipless crankbait in the typical fashion, burn-it, drag-it, slow roll it. & yo-yo it and you'll get bit along the rip rap. Main lake points with rip rap has produced a better quality of bass than the backs of creeks. Small paddle tail or a black Zoom Trick worm has been good baits to use as a follow-up when the bass whiff on the topwater plug. Lay downs are still holding fish, crankbait, jig, shaky head, or spinnerbait has been a good way to get bites throughout the day.
