Got on a bit of an unexpected frog bite this weekend. The pad fields that were too thick to fish a frog through this summer are now very sparse. These pads were perfect for a popping frog. The fish were concentrated on the pads and if you can find pads with laydowns nearby that was even better. Besides location, fish the frog just like you would during the summer. For more info on how I do that check out my other Lake of the Isles fishing report on summer frogging. Take advantage of this bite while you can it will be gone quick!

Fishing a frog on the edges of thick mats and over vegetation that has just topped out has been extremely productive. It has caught numbers and really good size, with a 4lb 5ounce kicker fish last week. Both walking and popping style frogs have worked well. All bites have come during typical topwater scenarios. Early morning or dusk, with low wind has been the ticket. Work the frog slow with long pauses in between twitches thats usually when they eat it.
