I love to throw swimbaits around any sort of vegetation. Slowly bring it back to the boat and it'll get inhaled by large fish. Flipping is also great this time of year.

Fished the BFL Super Tournament out of CLewiston. Wound up in 7th place. This tournament was all about 1 thing for me... Finding Bait! On the shallow flats of Okeechobee much of this was done putting the trolling motor down and covering water while paying attention to Humminbird 360 and looking out for bluegill beds. Also we used the Garmin 126 SV unit to idle around and locate the bluegill beds as well. Once we were in the areas that held the bluegill it was a matter of putting your head down and flipping. Majority of fish were caught flipping a 3/4 oz tungsten weight pegged on top a Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver. I used a Dobyns Champion XP 805 Flipping and Punching rod with 65 lb Power Pro line. I basically locked this rig in my hand and covered water. Overall a fun tournament on a very stingy Lake Okeechobee
