Dock fishing Lake was flat calm with no wind and a high sun. I noticed that fish were either suspending right underneath big marina dock floats or they were under single docks that were on/near secondary points. For the marina dock floats majority seemed to be on the walk ways and not in the actual stalls. To get to these fish you really have to be efficient with skipping a bait way back underneath float in order to access the walk ways and then slowly swim it out. You need to maintain the bait being close to the actual floats and also keeping the bait about 2 feet down in the water the entire cast. The marinas were also positioned on channel swing banks, I believe that was a huge part of the equation. For the single docks on secondary points, it was not as difficult. I noticed my bites came when I skipped to the shallowest part of the dock (walkway) and let it sit on bottom. I’d let the bait soak down there for a little bit before winding it back in. Bites came when jig was staying still on bottom. In order to skip these jigs you need to have a good jig head design and a solid flat trailer. Using Strike Kings Denny Brauer structure jig is the perfect choice due to its jig head being cobra shaped to skip on top of water easier. X zone lures adrenaline bug was also key because it’s flat bottomed allowing it to skip easier and it has those flapping appendages so you can also swim it along with a straight retrieve.
