Fished the west end during the last week of July and it was a tough bite. Tube jigs on wind blown shoreline rocks were the most consistent bait but could catch smaller bass on everything finesse. Caught a few largemouth and smallmouth on whopper ploppers as well, but it wasn’t a consistent pattern. Mostly struck out with the dropshot on deeper structure like rock piles and reefs except for dozens of 8-10” smallies and a handful of walleyes from 18-24”.

Fished the last week of July on the west end and walleyes were on offshore rock piles and reefs as well as around island points, caught fish anywhere from 14-30 fow. Nightcrawlers or leeches on a 4-6 foot snell with a snagless sinker picked up fish that were mostly around the 18 inch range. Only one fish caught while pulling cranks. Bigger slot walleyes were actually all caught while dropshot fishing for smallies, so maybe try throwing a roboworm in MMIII the next time you’re chasing ‘eyes on Vermilion.

Better day. Slow rolling mini max over rock points. Shimano Mastiff 12lb held up perfectly. Fished clean and didn’t lose any tackle
