Lake Winnipesaukee also contains over 300 small islands adding to the impressive shoreline total of 288 miles over this 28-mile-long body of water. The Lake is also deep with a maximum depth of 180 feet and an average depth of 43 feet. Species present in the Lake include crappie, brook trout, bullheads, burbot, chain pickerel, lake trout, lake whitefish, salmon, rainbow trout, panfish, perch, smallmouth bass, and the American Eel.
