Summer fishing is again very slow now that the water temp has gone up. This is a very shallow lake with an abundance of stumps and submerged trees on the west end. Try fishing with a rage swimmer around cooler pockets of water near the spring inlets, especially in the early morning. Move farther off the point on the northcentral shoreline during evenings. You'll need to fish lower here, which can be very difficult with all of the stumps. Or try trolling around the edges of the stumpfields with a floating crankbait.

Mid day bite with a jerk bait along docks or weed edges for the pike. All the bites were usually on the pause.

Hit the water early, in hopes to an early morning top water bite. Largemouth are on beds currently in Central Wisconsin. Gills were tight to the bank and seen activity so I began throwing a KVD Sexy Frog parallel to shore line. I picked up a few males but as it got lighter outside I was able to locate several beds in close proximity of each other around lilly pads. I backed off the area and let it rest and decided to upgrade size of bait to Heddon Zara Spook. On the very first cast after changing lures I threw 20 ft past and started to walk the dog. As the bait was about 1/2 way through the area of beds it appeared several bass exploded on the spook. I lowered the rod tip and made a sweeping hook set! I though at first I had a Biggin but after a few seconds I could feel them fighting each other. I knew then I had multiple fish. Female went 3.1 lbs, Male went 1.8 lbs. Zara Spook continues to stand the test of time!
