Targeting prespawners on the edges of rock reefs with frop shots. Fish were schooled up, when i would catch 1 i would cast in the same spot and pull a few more off.

Swimbait was the hot bait for us this day. Fished shallow looking for roamers and found lots of quality fish up shallow in the warmer water. Long casts were very helpful for finding the schools and being able to stay off of them and not spook them. Hair jigs took a few fish, as well as an okaishira head with small swimmer.

Fished the southeast side on some rock veins. They weren't as shallow as expected and weren't quite going on the jerkbait but the ned and jig were doing it.

Mille Lacs kicked out some big bags, this report is relevant between 5/14-5/18 Saw some fish shallow (4ft-6ft) and caught some fish shallow but the vast majority of what I could find shallow wouldn’t commit to anything. The last 1/2 of our day we went deeper (8ft-12ft) and found them. All big pre spawners well over 4 lbs. my guess is will start to see these fish pushing up over the next few days but there are definitely pre spawners to be had for the next week.

May 13 2024, Just 2 days after Minnesota fishing opener my family and I took the journey to the notorious Big pond. We fished shallow bays that had super rocky bottoms with small to larger boulders mixed in the bunch. We spent most of the day dragging deep cranks in shallow water!

Fish were on the edge of rock flats on the breaks. Most fish were by the edges that had the biggest rock and a steep break. Slow pauses worked best.
