Targeting prespawners on the edges of rock reefs with frop shots. Fish were schooled up, when i would catch 1 i would cast in the same spot and pull a few more off.

Yesterday I rigged a fluke, except instead of doing the traditional belly weighted or weightless wide gap in light wire I tried rigging it like ott Defoe did in lacrosse, take a coffee straw and enter the head to the body, take your line and pull it through the straw. It should come out of the flukes mid section and from there you tie to owner Stx on the end and tuck it in its belly . Bite was sort of slow yesterday for no reason, we tried many baits but this seemed to have the over all success. Their was also 4 fish on a chatterbait as well. Fish are still shallow and have shown no signs of bedding real soon, but every day is a new day, be safe and have fun

A lot of smallmouth are still in the pre-spawn stage but are moving towards their spawn areas. I was able to catch very good quality fish dragging a football jig around rock piles that had schools of bait nearby. The fish would be spitting up both crawdads and perch as you fought them. Lots of cruising fish in the shallows, but most of my fish were caught in 8-10 feet of water.
