Fished a full day hitting mostly the west and southwest sides. Feider fly was the ticket all day. Targeting large isolated boulders in 3-6’ of water. Could find numbers in the small rocks but biggest fish came on large isolated boulders. Marked a few in the morning that I could see some cruisers around and hit them later in the afternoon with some wind on them and caught a few 4s with a 5.4lb kicker.

The bite on Mille Lacs over the past few days has been fantastic- targeting fish shallow (2ft-7ft) finding warm water is key with the right habitat. Shallow rock veins with warmer clear water is the ticket out there. I scanned over 35 waypoints of spots that looked really good and only 3 of them have produced fish, but the schools that were set up on them were fairly big. Yesterday, a cold front blew in and our numbers went down. We caught half the numbers we’ve been getting with quality fish still on the board! Smaller swimbaits were key but if they stop biting follow those swimbaits with a hair jig, ned rig, or tube. Hot colors on the swimbaits were any variation of white.

Had the pleasure of taking out some clients on the big pond. Pretty heavy winds out of the east so we fished on the east end of the lake. Pretty standard pre-spawn stuff, targeting isolated boulders in 8-12 fow. The ned rig got the most quality bites, with a small paddletail swimbait also picking off a few fish.

Points
Decent number of walleyes in around 12 feet of water plus or minus a few feet. Was on a sand rock transition around dusk till about 10 pm when they stopped biting. Cast an Outkast tackle 1/4 oz swimbait head with about a 3 inch paddletail in green pumpkin. Let sink to bottom then retrieved it as slow as I could while occasionally contacting bottom. Outfished others using slip bobbers and leach in same boat.
