I was pitching the grub on a 1/2 ounce weedless jig head in to submerged weeds in 5-14 feet of water. The magic depth seemed to be around 9 feet.

I was cranking deep weeds for post spawn bass and ended up catching a few. The bigger females were still pretty beat up from the spawn. The deep crank bait bite is just starting. July will be the best month here in northern Wisconsin for this technique. The rod I was using is a St.Croix Legend Glass medium moderate.
