Spotted BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureRock PileBit of a grind today. Fishing was awesome...but the summer people have come out of their caves and there were wake boarders and jet skis flying all over the place. Ugh! Thought I would never say this...but I'm looking forward to late fall and winter so they'll all go away again. I forced that wacky rig set up out of my hands....which is still crushing...and focused on drop shot and texas rig presentations. Love the Zoom Trick Worms for both and Plum is the money color for me. Couple weeks of warm weather seems to have pushed them shallow again for some spawn activities. Probably just a couple weeks away from crank baits and jerk baits being the way to go out here.

Spotted BassTechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructurePointsStill crushing it with that Sexy Shad Senko. They just can't lay off of it. Anywhere from 15 - 25 feet deep off of main points and slowly dancing along the bottom with very minor twitches. But I had a lot of fun with the deep diving Strike King 6XD Crankbait. Out here on Bullards, I like anything with a little purple in it cuz I know they feast on the Kokanee all year long. Needed the 6XD to get down low enough in the water column. And there's just something awesome about the sudden impact of a crankbait attack.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureBrush PilesThat is not a mistake on my bass selection. I've been fishing this beautiful lake for 5 years now and have never caught anything but Spotted Bass....until last Saturday. I couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled in that smallie! Anyway...I was crushing it with my standard wacky rig Sexy Shad Senko, but I noticed the fish were slightly suspended off the bottom. So I went to a drop shot with the 6th Sense Glitch and just tore it up from then on. If it was a submerged tree/bush, I would slide that senko by them. And if I came across a sudden shelf drop off, I would get them with the drop shot. Another amazing day on my favorite lake in the world!

Spotted BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureBouldersHad to go way up river to get away from the Memorial Day wake boarders....ugh! The lake is just about at 100% capacity and with so much new dirt underwater, the water was as muddy as I've ever seen it. So I had to adjust to dark colors to break thru. The bass were definitely up on shore and they weren't really responding to reaction baits...So bring in the wacky rig using a Midnight Senko. That did the trick and I was catching all day long. Had a blast....as usual.

Spotted BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureBouldersTrailer Fixed and I'm back in business. So that meant my first trip out was Bullard's Bar. Still hunting for that lunker...but what a day I had fishing boulders and drop offs. Definitely the hot bait was a Texas Rig using a 3/8 Tungsten weight and Strike King Cut-R worm in the June Bug color. I find that at Bullard's, a blue/purple color works best on any finesse baits, no doubt because those bass like eating the kokanee in that lake. Non stop action. I caught larger fish than my picture attached...but the background shows you why it's such a beautiful lake to fish.

Spotted BassTechniqueMedium Diving Crankbaits (7'-12')SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLedgesFirst time out with my new Lew's Custom Lite and I paired it with the Shimano Flouro....great combo! I was catching spotties using several methods, but the best results today came from the 6th Sense Crush 50X Crank Bait in the Black Magic pattern. It was deadly pulling up lateral to shelfs and drop-offs and then casting right down the line. Any fish holding in the area couldn't resist! And the water is so clear, you can actually watch them come up and hit it. What a blast!!

Spotted BassTechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSummerStructurePointsFantastic day out there. I guess the lake is in post spawn, so they're moving away from the edge and starting to eat again. I caught my larger fish on 6th Sense C15 Crank Bait. But as you can see from my picture, I was also hooking into some nice ones with a 6th Sense Jig head paired with a Divine Swimbait in Ghose Ice Minnow. For someone who spends a lot of time finesse fishing, it was so fun to power fish with those baits. And I'll say it again. The Shimano Mastiff Flourocarbon is bullet proof. I had that line scraping rock all day and never had a problem!

Spotted BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructurePointsThe spotties are finally moving up to spawn. Dropping a wacky rig with a Yamamoto Sexy Shad Senko right on the shoreline and slow twitching it back was money! I had a 1/16th oz nail weight at the top just to get the right tilt on the Senko. Caught a few on the 6th Sense Provoke as well....but it was wacky rig day at Bullards! And that Lew's Custom Pro is an amazing reel!!!!
