We went out on opener for a few hours, the water temp was 64-65 and it seemed like bass were already off beds and in post spawn patterns. Most fish were caught throwing an evo with a live magic shad trailer on a flat or outside weed edge and bass would hit it on the pause after ripping through vegetation. Other bass were caught on a ned and a jig

Quantity over quality. Lots of bass were caught, mostly in the 12 to 14" range. A few smaller as well. In 3 hours well over 20 fish caught. Interesting lake. So many hooks and crannies to fish. Good lake for fishing with kayak. A lot of places to get away from winds for a bit.

Bite was tough. The bass I did find were in the open-water weeds in 6-8' of water. They hit the tube in green/chartreuse colors. Best to rig it weedless/stupid.

Bass ranged from near shore to >6" water. All bass were caught around emergent vegetation. The area where it transitions from shade to sun seemed to be a hot spot. I slowly hopped the tube over the vegetation.

Laydowns
05/29/22 - The water temps were about 72 degrees in the areas we were fishing. The bite was slow for the first couple hours. I threw a swim jig and a spinner bait in submerged grass and points with no success. After covering a lot of water we eventually switched to the wacky rig and fished a lot of shallow cover mostly consisting of pads, laydowns, and docks. We caught about a dozen smaller bass in the 1-2lb range. We spent the remainder of the evening frog fishing some thick shallow cover and caught a couple more.

Points
The vast majority of the bass population has spawned and retreated to deeper water. Fishing a matte or black jerk bait quickly worked well to round up the big ones earlier in the week. Bone and natural colored crankbaits with a 4-8ft running depth also generated some bites.
