Mid November brings a fall transition & the bass are starting to bite a bit. Smallmouth have been spotty and not quite firing at the tailrace, but should be soon. Water temps are still in low to mid 60s. The most consistent bite seemed to be related to emergent and submergent Hydrilla beds with current. Frogs, punching, buzz toads, lipless crankbaits, jerkbaits, keitech swimbaits and topwaters all produced fish, but the dominant lure this past week was a 1/2oz Double Willow spinnerbait in shad patterns. Bassman & War Eagle screaming eagles were two of the pest. 2-5' of water was best. Bait is starting to move to the backs of pockets and creeks, but the bass are still scattered.

I KNOW THIS IS A DROP SHOT BAIT, BUT I RIGGED LIKE A TEXAS RIG AND CAUGHT MOSTLY SMALLMOUTH AND 1 LARGEMOUTH. USING A SPINNING REEL AND 10 LB SUNLINE FLUROCARBON .1ST TIME USING THIS BAIT. REALLY LIKE THE WAY THEY WOULD PICK THE BAIT UP AND START RUNNING WITH IT. WE HAD A VERY GOOD DAY. ORDERED MORE OF THIS BAITS TODAY.

The bass would typically miss the topwater and we would throw in there with a tube or fluke and we would catch the fish. Finding grass in the back of pockets that had some depth would usually produce a few fish for us.

Great search bait to throw over grass or around wood. If you aren’t getting bite try different receives or rig the bait different. Depending on how you rig a fluke you can make it dive or stay the the surface or anything in between.

Caught fish relating to rip rap and other rock structure in the current. Switched between the bandit 300 and the hair jig to target fish that were suspended and on the bottom.
