Parallel casting from shore, fishing along rip rap. Retrieving fast/medium pace. No pausing, as the fish will lose interest.

        Laydowns

Running spinnerbaits around shallow laydowns and stumps in pool 2 was pretty consistent in late October! We also caught some fish (smallmouth and largemouth) finesse fishing in back pockets around sharp sand ledges. Dropshot and Ned rigs worked in those areas.

        River Channels

The walleye congregate in deeper pools along the main river channel and then move up onto the flats to feed in the morning and evening hours. You can catch them snap jigging a jigging rap along the channel edges and by pitching and snap jigging on top of the flats in less than 10 FOW during the morning and evening hours. Make sure to not go too heavy with the weight as this will cause you to snag on the bottom. Use the current to determine what weight and size jigging rap to be using. You want to be able to have no more than a 45 degree line angle and be able to snap and let the bait fall to the bottom. The fish will usually pin it to the bottom so "set the hook" on every snap and be ready for your rod to just stop on a mississippi super tanker!
