To start the day off we focused on the stretch of the river where it opens up into Lake Pepin, This turned out to be the wrong decision. We found one area with some life in it, but other than that we saw nothing on sonar. We worked our way upriver and started running into fish around Redwing. Mainly seemed to be sauger with a few smaller walleyes mixed in. The fish seemed to be hanging out in a wide range of depths from 30-15ft on the more gradual drop-offs. We were using Jigs and Plastics as well as Blade Baits slowly drifting downstream with the current trying to keep our speed around .3-.5 mph. Although we didn't catch any big fish we heard from several others that some walleyes around the 8lb range were caught up close to the dam earlier in the morning. I suspect with some warm weather since I was out that the bite has gotten better. Good luck fishing! https://www.davissguideservice.com/

Walleyes and sauger was sluggish. Got one 14 incher on a hairjig and everything else came off a 3/8 Damiki Halo blade bait. A 7'10" MLXF St. Croix Victory paired with a Daiwa Tatula 3000 with 10lb J8 Braid is a must to the fast current and to feel the bottom. Only one sauger, one walleye, 3 shovel nose and one whitebass.
