Fishing the river I have learned to use the Dubuque Rig. Using a heavy 3/8 ounce jig on the bottom with a short lead to a three way swivel. Then tie a longer lead to a smaller jig. On the smaller jig I would use a minnow on it and a plastic twister tail on the bigger jig. Slowly slipping with the current and pounding the bottom in 20-40 FOW. Just down river from then lock and dam.

Walleyes and Saugers are still biting below the dam. The dam was shut down so the current was slow. At sunrise Saugers were found in 14-16 feet below the dam and then out to 20-23 feet. Fishing slowed down after 9:00 but would still bite on the jig and fathead.
