Caught both largemouth and smallmouth in outside channel bends where current pushed up against the bank, best areas were undercut banks or had laydowns. Jerkbait produced more numbers but all the bigger fish came on the jig with chunk trailer.

Matted Grass
Found largemouth in 0-3ft around matted coontail and duckweed. Caught them on both a frog and a swim jig. Four things needed to be present in order to concentrate fish in certain areas. 1. Some sort of current flow. Didn't have to be a lot of current, but a little bit was good. 2. Clean sand bottom near the grass. It created a good edge and ambush points for the fish. 3. Bait - bluegill, perch, shad, minnows. 4. Clearer water. A bunch of rain had dumped mud into the main channel. Finding clean water generally meant you'd find the bait and the bass.
