Taught a 4H class today from the bank using KastKing spinning gear (kastking sponsored the event) at Roosevelt lake. The kids were novice anglers and this is their first time ever fishing. The water levels are the highest in history and there is little to no shoreline fishing. I knew it would be tough and the kids needed a technique that was easy and produces with little effort- drop shot wasn’t good for all the structure but POWERSHOT was the trick. 12-15lb KastKing Kovert Flouro, robo worm hook, and 1/4-3/8 dropshot weight. Right now any kind of worm in the trees will produce. From powershot, wacky rig, weightless sanko, pegged sanko, Texas rig worm or brush hog will flat catch em. If flippin use 17-20lb Fluoro. Wind blown bank in afternoon especially productive.

We got on the lake at sunrise and fished coves with crankbaits. I caught my bass on the Rapala Rocco and the BX Brat. All the fish were shallow and hanging around submerged brush where there was also a clean and rocky bottom. The fish were mostly in the mouth to the middle of the coves for us. The key was finding banks with river rock and submerged trees and brush and casting right up to the bank and coming in contact with cover. There were some buck bass on beds but they weren’t locked on. The bite was on fire from sunrise to about 9 to 9:3O am and then it shut off. I also caught the bass in the picture on a green pumpkin swim jig with a speed craw trailer fished in the same areas as the crankbaits.
