8/20/2022 Pt. 2: After smacking largemouth in the back waters, I went off shore and caught a lot of smaller smallmouth and 1 really good 3.5 pounder. I went to start skipping docks and found multiple that had a large number of fish on them. There was mostly smallmouth but also some largemouth holding to them too. The big key was green pumkin. The Zman Goat skips very well so I would use it around more open docks. The Zman Palmetto bug was my go to for accurate skipping in tight spots on docks with less poles. For the heaviest cover docks (where I found more largemouth) I would go with a tube to get a better hook up incase the fish wrapped me up and I had to get it untangled. This pattern also produce an almost 7 pound giant Tyler Darling in the tournament. I finished in 2nd place with 17.48 lbs on the day.

8/20/2022 Pt. 1: The largemouth are starting to school up. I caught a lot of numbers on a combination of 2 spinnerbaits with different blade configurations. The Megabass SV-3 was my choice for the clear water shallow presentation. Due to the double willow configuration I could keep it up in the water column over the grass. It was deadly with the wind and sunshine. For the deeper grass 6-8 ft I used the Venom Lure Double Turtle Back in green pumpkin bluegill. The water was a little dirtier so the extra thump and the ability to run a little bit deeper made a difference. The largemouth would be in tight schools of 5-6 in a pocket. The major key was to cover ground and find them. You could also flip but it was too time consuming for how much they were moving.

8/12/2022: The bite on Roy is a little tough. We still caught them, but mostly in deep grass or shallow in between the weed lines. Up shallow on the bank they are holding close to shade. The water temp is starting to come down so the bite in September should be top notch. Spinnerbait, spinnerbait, spinnerbait... you might have to tinker with the colors a bit, but you'll catch quality no mater what.
