Fish are starting to make beds. Use your electronics to scan out in front of the docks and zig zag the flats looking for the colonies of nests. Once you find them, mark them and anchor close. Slip bobbers and/or casting small jigs past the beds and slowly bringing across them has produced a bunch of nice fish. Make sure to release the large male gills. They are the most important fish to maintain a large size structure in the lake.

We worked the break lanes pre-fishing for a tournament in 8’ to 16’. I caught fish from one to three pounds on various Jackhammers. Lots of dead water and more high percentage spots where we didn’t get bit. A mix of weeds seemed to help, but wasn’t a sure thing. Plenty of pike so I recommend using a leader to protect your lure from getting bit off.
